FRANCESCO CANGIULLO ( 1884 - 1977 )

Francesco Cangiullo was an Italian artist, poet and writer associated with Futurism. Born in Naples, he joined the Futurist movement around 1910 and became particularly known for his experimental parole in libertà (words-in-freedom), combining typography, poetry and visual art. He collaborated closely with Filippo Tommaso Marinetti and played an important role in the development of Futurist theatre and performance. His work is characterised by dynamic compositions, playful typography and a radical approach to language and visual expression.
