Large-scale close-up portraits and still lifes on the border between figuration and abstraction. Deceptive photorealism that, via framing and brutal choice of motif (e.g. raw meat), confronts in a non-expressionist manner viewers’ habitual ways-of-seeing and emotions. Work in and of its time.
