Belgian sculptor, brother of the painter Floris Jespers.
Oscar Jespers followed the classes at the Academy and at the higher Institute for fine arts in Antwerp, settled in 1927 in Brussels and was a teacher at the higher Institute for architecture and decorative arts (la Cambre, Brussels).
From 1920 he was an important pioneer of Flemish expressionism. Eventually he returned to a more conciliatory with nature design. He made time in his expressionist preferably use direct and exhibit are images strictly closed forms.
After 1937 he went again to modelling clay. Always remained his efforts focused on simplicity, sobriety and monumentality. His images exude a great human warmth. Bodies are in round, solid, bulky forms.
From 1949 to 1957, he taught at the Jan van Eyck Academy in Maastricht and in 1961 he was a guest teacher at The School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston.
