Jan Fabre ( Antwerp 1958 )

The all-rounder Jan Fabre is an artist, theatre maker and author. The vulnerability and transformation of human bodies lies at the heart of his installations, sculptures, drawings, films and performances. Metamorphosis is a key concept in his multidisciplinary oeuvre. Influenced by the research of the entomologist Jean-Henri Fabre (1823-1915), he is fascinated by people, nature and science. Ever since he was a boy, Jan Fabre has been studying and dissecting insects and other small creatures to transform them into something new.
